A fifth person has died after a car crashed into a pond last weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard revealed the identity of the victim as 19-year-old Jamar Matthews from Lake City. Willard said Matthews died at Grand Strand Medical Center after suffering injuries from the crash.
Authorities said the crash took place around 1:30 a.m. January. 23 on Harrelson Boulevard, just west of Highway 15.
Officials got a call of a single-vehicle crash and found a vehicle partially submerged in a retention pond upon arrival at the scene.
Police said several people were found near the automobile with severe injuries, while some did not survive.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden had identified four victims who died in the crash. The names included 20-year-old Shiquan Graham and 23-year-old Thomas McDowell, both of Lake City.
22-year-old Niterria Johnson and 17-year-old and LeAna McMillian, both of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, were also killed in the crash.
