$830K is the price of a 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Convertible

Aston Martin unveiled their DB5 in July 1963. And it was just 23 number of these beauties that been produced at that time. The more powerful Vantage engine with a max power output of 282 bhp coupled to a four speed overdrive gear box was fitted on just nine of these 23 cars. At the auction held last weekend at Goodwood Festival of Speed one of these masterpiece automobiles was auctioned and it fetched a princely sum of £551,500 or $830,000 at the current exchange rates.

There were other exquisite vehicles too that went under the hammer. These includes the 1937 Bentley 41/4 Liter Drophead Coupe. Its claim to fame – it was this very car that featured in the James Bond movie “Never Say Never Again”. There was also a 199 Mercedes Benz SLK230 as well as a 1976 Jensen Interceptor Series III Coupe that also figured in the auction. The sum total that was raised during the auction of the cars was an astounding £3,707,687.

James Knight the Group Head of Bonhams Motoring Department said “There was extraordinary strength of bidding in all areas of the market and we were exceptionally pleased to establish yet another world record Aston Martin price with the sale of the DB5 convertible.”
