The new Volvo Concept Universe that made its world premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show is not only a study result for a luxury sedan but also allows a glimpse of the future design language of the Swedish automaker.
The Concept Universe measures less that 5 meters and this points at the possibility of Volvo’s plans to get in a replacement for their S80 sedan rather than for the larger sized Mercedes-Benz S-Class, even though Geely, the Chinese owner of the Swedish firm has been speaking in this line. However, no technical details of the Concept Universe is forthcoming.
As per Stefan Jacoby, Volvo cars CEO, the new concept model of the company gives a preview of what the expectations of the people could be from the company as far as the sedan model line goes.
As per Volvo their plans are to launch the new concept sedan both in the US as well as in Europe which would push the company and its cars into the global scenario.
Peter Horbury, vice president of the design groups at the company said: “The Concept Universe is exceptionally refined, yet with all the simplistic assets that make Volvo champions of the uncomplicated. There is a growing appreciation for this ingenious blend of design and technology among modern luxury car buyers. This trend paves the way for our success. We are convinced that our special brand of luxury has a great future.”
