Here is some good news for Audi fans in the UK. For the Ingolstadt based company is all set to introduce the long wheelbase version of the A8 in that country.

The model named A8 L would have an overall length which is 130 mm more than the standard A8. This, as Audi states would provide for more passenger space.

The car comes with the option of selecting from the 3.0 litre TDI with 247 bhp on tap, a 4.2 litre TDI unit with a power output of 345 bhp, 3.0 litre TFSI unit rated at 286 bhp or a 4.2 litre FSI engine with 367 bhp of power output. Then lastly, there is the top of the range and the A8 L exclusive 6.3 litre W12 FSI that has a max power rating of an impressive 493 bhp and 461 lb ft of torque.

Acceleration of the A8 L fitted with the top of the range engine would be 4.7 seconds for the 0 to 60 mph spring and top speeds of 155 mph. Fuel efficiency as per Audi is 22.8 mpg, which is better by 9 percent on the outgoing model and emission factor would be 290 g/km.

Rear doors would be wider given the extra length that the new Audi model gets and it would also have the ‘power assisted closure’ feature in the W12 version.

The rear seats are heated and there are also two adjustable individual seats for the W12. The climate control system is an upgraded one and has electrically operated window blinds.

Price range of the A8 L is from £60,010 which is for the entry level model and goes on to £94,460 which is for the double glazed, W12. UK showrooms have started receiving examples of the models already.
