Toyota is known as one of the world’s top automakers, especially when it comes to sales volumes. The company has managed to break global sales records in the automotive industry for at least two years consecutively. Nonetheless, it seems that the Japanese automaker also has interests in other stuffs, too, sometimes even very odd stuffs, just like this TES-CROSS SUV. As of the moment, there are not so many details in respect to this vehicle in particular. The only place to find information about the vehicle seems to be the company’s Japanese website.
According to the website, this vehicle is a result of the work put in by an organization known as the Toyota Engineering Society. The aforementioned organization is in fact a division under the Toyota Motor Company and it was established back in the year 1947. So far, 30,000 members have enrolled into the said organization.
The Toyota TES-CROSS will reportedly come out as a convertible SUV. At a glance, it may look a bit like the Toyota RAV4. The car comes with small overhangs, a short wheelbase and also a roof that can be folded away or put up properly and the car is capable of taking four passengers together for a ride on it.
It is also reported that this very odd Japanese SUV will make use of the suspensions fitted into the Toyota Vitz. However, there will be some modifications to enable the car to accommodate larger wheels. The car will also feature a 1.0L supercharged engine under the hood. This means customers can expect 75 hp of power output, give or take. The car is going to be very light, thanks to the use of resin body panels.
Now, if you take a close look at the Toyota TES-CROSS convertible SUV, it may remind you of the TE-Spyder 800. The latter also comes from the very same organization, the Toyota Engineering Society.
