Bentley has recently announced a more powerful “S” version of the Continental GT V8 that gives an extra 21 hp (16 kW).
The “S” version will be unveiled at the IAA in Frankfurt and will come with a minor output hike of 21 hp (16 kW) and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) of torque, bringing the total to 521 hp (389 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque at 1,700 rpm.
The increase in power enables the Bentley Continental GT V8 S Coupe to achieve the 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) sprint in just 4.5 seconds which makes it 0.3s quicker than the normal model, and at the same time the top speed has also been increased from 188 mph (303 kmph) to 192 mph (309 kmph). The Convertible hits 62 mph in 4.7s and will come with a top speed of 191 mph (308 kmph).
In spite of additional power, the coupe will still cover more than 500 miles (805 km) before running out of fuel which results in a combined fuel economy of 26.8 mpg UK (22.3 mpg US or 10.5 liters / 100 km) with CO2 emissions of 246 g/km. The Convertible will return 25.9 mpg UK (21.5 mpg US or 10.9 liters / 100 km) emitting 254 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
