Bertone shutting down – report

David BondPress Releases11 years ago9 Views

As per a recent report Italian design house Bertone has gone bust as a result of major financial problems.

Towards the end of last year we did hear about Grugliasco-based design house going into bankruptcy once more and there were several companies that were interested in purchasing the troubled design house, it appears nothing materialized and creators of the stunning Lamborghini Miura have nothing else to do but to shut down.

Although they made about 20 million EUR last year mainly thanks to its Chinese clientele, Bertone is having a lot of financial issues and it is believed the remaining employees have not been paid for six months. As many as 160 workers were recently laid off and the suppliers have sued Bertone to reclaim costs.

Besides shaping up the Miura, Bertone was also in charge of designing some of the cool cars that include the Lancia Stratos, Lamborghini Countach and Alfa Romeo Giulia GT.

Well all that we can say is that it is not a very good news for the design and automotive industry and we also believe probably Bertone didn’t deserve this end!
