While driving on the road, it is very important to pay attention to road signs. Without doing so, a car driver may well be exposing himself to crashes or even trigger such an incident. However, it seems that road signs may not always guarantee safety driving, at least if a person is driving his car in the United Kingdom. Recently, drivers driving on the road in the vicinity of Rotherham were ticketed for driving their cars at the speed of 40 mph. Ironically, these drivers were simply driving according to the road signs which had 40 mph written on them. Unfortunately, these signs were fake signs and the true speed limit should have been 30 mph instead.
However, referring to the law that applies in the UK, the law enforcement officers should first check if the signs placed on the road are appropriately placed before they decide to ticket any drivers. Still, hundreds of drivers were ticketed all the same because of these fake road signs. Fortunately, this very unique as well as bizarre incident has attracted the attention of the ABD, which stands for the Association of British Drivers. The institute is considering this to be an outrageous incident and is demanding that all tickets received by the drivers be revoked. As the ABD puts it, each and every one of the drivers that were caught because of the fake signs must be exonerated at once.
Unfortunately, the pranksters that have triggered this whole incident are still at large. Interestingly enough, it is easy for anyone to get their hands on very authentic road signs from a number of companies, some of which are even based in the UK itself. With that being said, the next time you drive in the UK, perhaps it is best to cross check the speed limit you see on the road signs with the one displayed on the satellite navigation system of your car, provided your car has such a facility.
