BMW announced yesterday that they have given a green light for the M3 GTS that will be marketed in Germany with a sticker price of € 136,850 inclusive of 19% value added tax.

The low-volume vehicle will prove to be an exciting ride. The M3 GTS can zoom from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.4 seconds which is 0.2 faster than the standard M3 coupe. The improvement in performance can be attributed to the V8 powerplant which received an 8.7% increase in power. The BMW engineers also up the cylinder stroke by 10% allowing the V8 engine to have a displacement of 4.36L better than its M3 cousin that has 4.0L.

The powerful engine is coupled with the M Dual Clutch Transmission with seven speeds. The M3 GTS can blast pass the one kilometer line in just 22.5 seconds. The top speed of this BMW is pegged at 305 kilometer per hour or 198 mph.

Other highlights of the car are the 19-inch M alloy wheels with Y spokes, full setup for aerodynamic upgrades which includes a rear spoiler and front apron. BMW also tuned the Anti-lock Brakes system, Dynamic Stability Control, and M Dynamic Mode for the M3 GTS.

The M3 GTS tips the scales 154 lbs. lighter than the M3 that weighs about 3,527 pounds. Despite the sporty performance the M3 GTS is street legal.
