There may only be a handful of people out there that are familiar with the automotive marquee Buick. This is not because the company makes low quality cars. Instead, it is because it is considered to be a luxury automaker and hence, only a number of people can potentially afford the vehicles manufactured by the company. Now, just a few days prior to the start of this year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) event, the automaker in question has officially removed the wraps off the 2016 Buick Cascada Convertible.
The vehicle will become the automaker’s first ever vehicle model that features a retractable roof for the past twenty five years. However, to tell the truth, this convertible is but a Vauxhall/Opel Cascada, rebadged. On its front end, the vehicle looks attractive, thanks to its LED headlamps. In addition to that, the vehicle is also coming with chrome trims, a rakish windscreen and will run on 20-inch bespoke alloy wheels. It comes with a retractable soft top which needs only 17 seconds to go down. The roof is retractable as long as the vehicle is not moving any faster than 50 km/h.
The interior of the car is also packed with materials of premium quality, besides metallic trims. Unfortunately, at this point of time, Buick denies to provide further details. Yet, the company is trying to be kind enough here to reveal that the vehicle will be equipped with electric seat belt presenters, the IntelliLink infotainment system featuring a 7-inch screen, heated front seats, and also a rear seat entrance function that will automatically retract the front seats of the vehicle forward whenever necessary.
In terms of safety measures, the Cascada convertible relies on rollover bars with pop-up method, lane departure warning system, wipers with rain sensors, and also a parking camera on the rear end of the vehicle.
Under the hood, the car offers a 1.6L engine with four cylinders, capable of 200 hp and 280 Nm of power output and torque, respectively. The engine will be paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The 2016 Buick Cascada convertible will reportedly open for order early 2016 and Buick is going to reveal the pricing for the vehicle as it nears its official launch date.
