According to the rumor mill, the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan is working on its GT-R upgrade. While no official announcement has been made, we know that Nissan is trying to keep up with the newly refreshed Posche 911 Turbo and S-version. The upgrade should come out on 2012.
As with its German rival, the R35 is anticipated to have some facelifts done on its aero-bits, brakes, and suspension. Reviewers are also anticipating the comeback of the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine which can generate up to 500 HP and 450 lbs/ft of torque.
The exterior upgrades, though, will be minimal, focusing on the rear diffuser, the wing, and the front splitter. These will be modified to decrease the weight and downforce of the sportscar. Hopefully, it will also show a significant drop in laptime.
According to our sources, the alleged upgrade has already undergone test runs in the Nurburgring circuit last month. The estimated lap time was below the current GT-R’s 7:26 record, but no concrete results have been released.
