Cadillac, a division under the General Motors Corp. (GMC), has made it clear that it will start sales of the CT6 beginning from the year 2015. Cadillac made this clear last week when its executives were involved in a briefing session of sorts. According to the Cadillac executives, the model in question will showcase the technologies that the company’s cars will be using in the future.
Speaking of the futuristic technologies that the Cadillac CT6 will potentially feature in it when it finally goes on sale next year, one interesting bit to note is the semi-autonomous driving feature that Cadillac dubs the Super Cruise. This system will be in charge of controlling how the car steers, when it needs to apply the brakes and how it should manage acceleration under certain circumstances. To make it possible, this system will take advantage of a number of cameras put in conjunction with GPS data, ultrasonic sensors and numerous radars which will all help the car identify its current location in relation to the obstacles or other cars on the road.
What is also cool is the rearview mirror. It is believed that the Cadillac CT6 will sport a digital rearview mirror that is capable of feeding the driver with a live video of anything that may exist behind the vehicle.
Unfortunately, Cadillac executives are not keen on spoiling just yet about the powertrain that the car will have. However, the only thing confirmed is that the CT6 will be available in a plug-in hybrid variant as it seems to be the trend in the automotive world these days. In addition to that, word on the street is that the car will need under six seconds to go from 0-60 mph, with a speed of 75 mph, tops. That, however, is just for the electric mode.
