Two people taken to hospital, injuries are not life-threatening.
Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after their car tumbled into the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal on Thursday morning, officials stated.
County emergency services personnel and the Swift Water Rescue team informed around 7 a.m. close to the Old Angler’s Inn and Great Falls Tavern for the report of an overturned car, fire department spokesman Pete Piringer reported.
The adult patients were shifted to a local hospital, Piringer stated. One victim needed emergency attention however the injuries were not life-threatening.
The car entered the canal right off the C&O Towpath, a trail that runs next to the river.
The U.S. Park Police are investigating the matter.
