Following a recent leak of images of the AeroSeven Concept on the web, Caterham has now officially released the details of its exciting concept.
The concept would be displayed for the first time at the Singapore Grand prix that will take place this weekend. The concept is a preview of the production version that is expected to hit the roads next year in 2014. The AeroSeven Concept is based on an updated version of the Caterham Seven CSR platform and also comes with technology derived from the brand’s F1 team. This includes a newly developed Caterham Engine Management System as well as adjustable traction control and launch control systems.
The concept looks quite bold and futuristic and has a distinctive front fascia with a massive grille and LED headlights. Moving further back, we can see a side-exiting exhaust, bulging rear wheel arches and a two seat cockpit.
Motivation would be provided by a naturally aspirated Ford Duratec-based engine that produces 240PS (237 hp) and the concept would be able to accelerate to 100 kmph (62mph) in under 4 seconds. The company is in the process of currently assessing a number of alternative power units that could be used when production is launched.
