Citroën Survolt Sports Car Concept to Race at Le Mans Classic

Citroën recently unveiled to the public for the first time its decision of taking its funky little all-electric sports car concept, the Survolt, out for racing. This was the first of this type of an announcement for the general public at this year’s Geneva Salon in March.

The Citroën’s Survolt will make its debut to the racing track at the Le Mans Classic on July 10. The sports car would be piloted by racing driver Vanina Ickx. Vanina Ickx, incidentally is the daughter of Belgian Formula One pilot, Jacky Ickx.

The announcement about the sports car’s track debut by the French carmaker was accompanied by the disclosure of technical details about the Survolt. The super car measures just 3.85m in length, 1.87m in width and 1.2m of height. A tubular chassis, a flat underside with an extractor and full carbon bodywork are featured in the super mini sized Survolt. The super car weighs about a mere 1,150 kg or 2,535 pounds.

A two-electric motors producing a combined output of 300-horsepower, and a pair of lithium-ion batteries weighing in at 140kg or 308 lbs a piece together constitute the Survolt’s full electric-drive train.

A 31kw capacity power boasted by each battery pack offer a driving range of around 200km which translates to 124 miles. According to Citroën, the tiny coupe is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/hour or 0-62 mph in under five seconds. The super car returns a top speed of 260 km/h i.e. over 162mph.
