Citroën Survolt Concept seen at the Le Mans Classic

by Alex

The last weekend the Citroën Survolt made its debut at the tracks of Le Mans Classic racing event. The GTbyCITROËN supercar concept and a parade of DS3 models lapped the Le Mans Circuit along with the stylish French coupe. The racing car driver Vanina Ickx was found to be piloting the all-electric concept. Vanina Ickx is the daughter of Belgian Formula One pilot Jacky Ickx.

The Vanina was reported talking to press. She said “I am very proud to have participated in this unique project,”. She further added, “On the track it felt really good. It’s a real race car, with a very promising potential for the future.”

The sports car was first exposed at the 2010 Geneva show. The Survolt is a 3.85 meter long coupe. It boasts a cannular frame made of a full carbon body and a flat underside. The car is rolled out with a pair of electric motors that deliver up to 300 HP. Power from this pair of electric motors is good enough for a top speed of 260km/h i.e. about 162 mph. The car is capable of sprinting from 0 km/h to over 100 km/h i.e. about 62 mph in a time lesser than five seconds.

The electric motors derives the power or the energy from a pair of two 140kg i.e. 309 lbs lithium-ion batteries. This offers a driving range of around 200 km/h i.e. 124 miles. The pair of batteries can be re-charged in two hours with a specific power supply. Alternatively it can also be charged in about 10 hours on a standard 220 Volt electrical power supply.
