Investigating the workplaces of Volkswagen‘s law firm was not unlawful, a German regional court stated on Monday, prompting the automaker to say it would lodge an appeal with Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court.
In March, Munich prosecutors investigated the workplaces of Jones Day, a U.S. law firm employed by Volkswagen to examine its emissions scandal, stepping up efforts to determine those associated with Volkswagen’s emissions scandal.
Volkswagen, Europe’s biggest automaker, has condemned the search and submitted a legal complaint.
It stated that it would now take the matter to Germany’s highest court, the Federal Constitutional Court.
“The Munich regional court’s decision in now way provides us need to alter our legal position,” it noted in an e-mailed statement.
