DC Design introduces petite two-seater Tia at Auto Expo, going into production

by SpeedLux

Well known Indian coachbuilder DC Design has unveiled the tiny Tia two-seater at the recently held Auto Expo in New Delhi, India.

Founded by former General Motors designer Dilip Chhabria, DC Design are showcasing a petite two-seater roadster with dimensions of 2550mm in length, 1688mm in width and 1406mm in height, while the wheelbase spans at 1620mm. It features a 200mm ground clearance and tips the scales at a rather hefty 950 kg (2,094 lbs).

Talking about the power, the same is generated from a mid-mounted turbocharged 1.2-liter gasoline engine outputting 120 hp (89 kW) and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) sent to the rear axle through a 4-speed automatic transmission. It will be able to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in 9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 100 mph (160 kmph).

The DC Design Tia comes with McPherson front struts and a rear trailing arm suspension and uses a carbon composite spaceframe chassis taken from the Avanti. It sits on beefy 18-inch alloy wheels with stopping power coming from disc brakes on all four corners. The two-seater adopts a truncated windscreen similar to the one that can be seen on a motorcycle while at the rear it has LED taillights.

Production will commence later this year and will come with a base price of around 28,700 USD.
