Dodge Challenger SRT just got more interesting with the addition of a new 600-plus horsepower HEMI Hellcat engine.
The all-new 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat is powered by an all-new supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI – the most powerful V8 engine Chrysler Group LLC has ever produced with 475 lb.-ft. of peak torque.
The modern day muscle car also comes with segment-first TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmissions, that is also available on new updated Dodge Challenger SRT models.
The Hellcat model is based on the facelifted Challenger, featuring an aluminum “power-bulge” hood, restyled headlights, a duck-bill front splitter, new rear valance and LED taillights.
There is also a larger front splitter, a bigger rear spoiler and an exclusive air catcher inlet port.
The Challenger SRT Hellcat rides on 20-inch lightweight forged-aluminum wheels with a matte black finish fitted with Pirelli P Zero Nero tires hiding what Dodge calls the largest front-brake package ever offered in an SRT vehicle, with 390mm (15.4-inch) Brembo two-piece rotors with six-piston calipers.
The cabin carries largely over from the standard SRT model with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, aluminum trim and heated/ventilated front seats with Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery. Other highlights include retro-inspired gauges and a 7-inch driver information display in the instrument cluster and a Uconnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch display.
In addition to the supercharged HEMI V8 in the Challenger SRT Hellcat, the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT model also gets a power boost for 2015 model year with upgrades to the 392 HEMI V8 producing now 485 hp, up from 470, while peak torque jumps from 470 lb-ft to 475 lb-ft.
