Drivers 50 and above would like to have more car safety tech

In the mission to be able to keep driving in the coming years, more motorists 50 and up aspire to attempt the latest in car-safety technology that may help them stay behind the wheel, a brand-new research study finds.

Some 76% of motorists because age surveyed say they would search for a car with the most recent security functions, discovers the online survey by insurance provider The Hartford.

” Our findings indicate that some drivers, age 50-plus, would be more willing to drive in particular scenarios if they had specific innovations,” stated Jodi Olshevski, a gerontologist who is executive director of The Hartford Center for Mature Marketing Excellence. They study suggests “they associate innovative innovations with enhanced safety,”

They are searching for innovative security functions like blind-spot caution, crash mitigation, lane-departure cautions and advanced headlights.

Some of new technologies pave the way towards self-driving automobiles, which are still a few years away. The research study discovered just about one in 4 older motorists is opposed to going driverless. Some 35% want to give it a try, and 42% have no idea enough yet to state.

In order to be willing to back driverless cars, 56% said they have to know they would be as safe as driving themselves. Some 48% would utilize them if their health avoided them from driving, 27% would use them if they helped them stay linked to relatives, 27% if they were more affordable than a regular car; and 17% if they were advised by someone they trust.

The survey was conducted online from 2,015 reactions in March with a 2.2% margin of mistake, The Hartford states.
