The E-Tense concept reveals the DS brand’s enthusiasm for innovative design, and an effective electrical motor permits fast acceleration. After the latest launching of Renault’s Alpine Vision concept, French automakers are returning on track picturing good-looking coupes that may make some American fans envious. We can try to find this EV-GT launching in Geneva next week.

DS asserts the E-Tense is a GT, however it looks more like an Audi R8-fighting sports due to the brief overhangs and broad fenders. A chrome spine divides the coupe down the hood and over the roof. Instead of a back window, the E-Tense counts on electronic cameras, and without any requirement for exposure, DS’ stylists develop a complex mix of shapes at the back. We cannot wait to see how this appears in reality in Geneva. The interior function pieces by French high-end products makers, consisting of a leather helmet harness by Moynat, a watch by BRM Chronographes, and speakers from Focal.

The rakish coupe loads an electrical motor that makes 402 horse power and 381 pound-feet of torque, which would get it to 62 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds. DS declares that its lithium-ion battery would provide the equivalent of 193 miles on Europe’s combined testing cycle.

Presuming an automobile like the E-Tense ever sees production, there’s a little opportunity it may show up in the United States. A report in fall 2015 hinted that the DS brand’s officers thought expansion was required here, and the move was a couple of years away.
