Italian carmaker Ferrari showcased its experimental car Laboratorio Technologico 599XX that derives hints from the 599 GTB Foriano. As much as we want to see it to go on production, the chances of it landing in our garage is next to impossible and only a few lucky test drivers will be able to get their hands on this wheels.
A road legal tamer version of the Ferrari stallion will be released later this year for the car racing enthusiasts.
The new Ferrari will revive the GTO badge which means Gran Turismo Omologato. The GTO badge was first used by the 288 GTO which went to production about twenty five years ago.
A 599 GTO was recently captured by the shutters of automotive spies near the Maranello factory of Ferrari in Italy. The test car was seen in varicolored disguise playing with a combo of blue and black or red and black just like some their previous models.
A photographer even noticed that the white cover of the rear bumper conceals some air vents similar to the original GTO. If the spied Ferrari will be close to its production version, we can say that it is cool enough with the diffuser and black roof.
Somehow the lines of the 599 GTO will get hints from the Laboratorio Technologica 599XX but it will not go very extreme.
The V12 6.0L engine of the 599 is expected to be beefed up to give out 700 horsepower for the Ferrari 599 GTO. The car is also expected to be about 150 pounds lighter plus some aerodynamic elements to be added.
The production of the 599 GTO will be very limited. We got info that there will only be 500 units to be produced. You don’t have to wait that long, the official reveal will be at the Geneva Motor Show.
