Fiat has disclosed its plans to offer two new engines in the 500L.
The first one is the 0.9-liter TwinAir Turbo which emits 105 HP (74 kW) and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque. It allows the model to speed up from 0-100 km/h in 12.3 seconds, at a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). This doesn’t make the model very fast, but it’s particularly prudent as it clocks 4.8 L/100km (49 mpg US / 58.8 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 112 g/km.
The Second one is the 1.6-liter MultiJet II turbo diesel which emits 105 HP (74 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. The extra sound allows the model to speed from 0-100 km/h in 11.3 seconds and hit a highest speed of 181 km/h (112 mph).
As far as efficiency is concerned, it can clock 4.5 L/100km (52.2 mpg US / 62.7 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 117 g/km.
Both the engines are bespoke and they are tailor made for the 500L. They have the necessary capacity to generate enough energy to make the car run for miles.
