Fiat Chrysler and Google plan to work on dozens of self-driving prototypes

Fiat Chrysler and Google prepare to deal with dozens of self-driving prototypes.

Last week, it was reported that both mentioned that Google and Fiat Chrysler were nearing an offer to integrate the Mountain View company’s self-driving nous with the car-maker’s automobiles. The recent report from Bloomberg corroborates those reports and includes more detail.

This is a big deal for Google and the autonomous vehicle market as a whole. Although the search giant has checked its innovation in various vehicle manufacturers’ cars, this would be the first time its self-driving proficiency would be included into a vehicle that’s readily available for the public to buy.

Surprisingly, it’s noted that this deal doesn’t consist of an exclusivity agreement, implying Google is complimentary to speak to other car-makers about using its tech. This maybe describes why reports were circling previously in the year that Ford was likewise talking with Google about using its self-driving program. Also, Fiat Chrysler is complimentary to test other firms’ autonomous tech. A contract between the two could be finalized as early as Tuesday, although both companies have declined to talk about it.
