Fisker Automotive‘s future plans includes a crossover and a hard-top convertible, but untile then it’s a long way and they decided to make small steps. The first step is revealing a new model at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show next week. The company today dropped the name and the teaser of the new vehicle, which will debut in Concept Form at the 64th IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany. In this teaser image, we get an idea of what to expect, and it’s pretty nice.
The new concept is called Surf and it will be a reinterpretation of the shooting brake concept, a body stile that seems to be back in business these days. Even though there have been many rumors bringing us hints on how the car would be based on the Karma, it’s pretty difficult to say more about the car at this point, but at least one thing it’s clear: the car maker hasn’t had a hard time generating the right curves and lines to get people interested.
However, the concept seem to be wearing a shooting brake body style. This transforms makes it the latest in the rebirth of the two-door sports wagon among high-end car makers.
Probably, the Fisker Surf won’t approach the Ferrari FF‘s performance levels, but it should still be fuel efficient, luxurious and fast. Anyway, Fisker Surf will most likely be featuring a hybrid powertrain much like the one seen on the Karma saloon.
As a reminder, the Karma manages 408 horsepower, 5.8 seconds to 60 mph, 125 mph top speed, and 50 miles of all-electric driving before tapping into its gasoline onboard generator.
“The Fisker Surf delivers a bold new twist and is sure to ‘wow’ global audiences with its combination of Uncompromised Responsible Luxury and head turning design,” Fisker said in a statement.
Considering that the current Karma is priced at $95,900, the new concept, when it will hit the production line, if it will, will likely come with a price tag over $105-110,000.
