Force India colours to race in GP2

Force India‘s distinctive orange and green colours will appear on the GP2 grid in 2014, following a recent agreement concluded with the German team Hilmer.

Team boss Vijay Mallya said the deal, with Facu Regalia and Daniel Abt in the cockpits, is part of Force India’s “great emphasis” on young driver development. He further said “It’s the logical next step as we look to bring through the next generation of drivers and provide them with the opportunity to showcase their talent”.

Well the news comes in as a big surprise as there have been reports and rumors doing rounds that Mallya and his entire business empire is at risk of collapse as his one of the group companies KingFisher Airlines was grounded almost a year back. An insider close to one of Mallya’s lenders told the French news agency AFP “The legacy of the empire, which he inherited from his dad, is at risk”.

Just to update, Force India was originally owned by UB Spirits (group company of Vijay Mallya) and later Sahara India owned by Subrata Roy Sahara has purchased stake and so now called as Sahara Force India.
