Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook took their third straight IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar triumph. The Corvettes took the last 2 areas on the podium with the No. 4 second and the No. 3 3rd.
The No. 25 BMW and the No. 66 Ford GT completed the leading five.
Chip Ganassi Racing took the lead late throughout the final cycle of rest stop, getting an 11 second cushion. Tommy Milner attempted running down Briscoe, however went no closer than six seconds.
Really early in the race, the No. 100 BMW had concerns that caused the group to take it behind the wheel. It eventually returned to the race numerous laps down and in the closing phases, held up Joey Hand to the point where he sent out the car around. With just over a minute left in the race, a full-course yellow was shown after the No. 44 Magnus Racing Porsche of Andy Lally crashed, finishing the race behind the safety car.
