American automaker Ford had earlier unveiled their three door hatchback concept Fiesta ST Model at the Frankfurt Motor Show held recently. According to the Director of global performance cars for Ford, Jost Capito, they are trying to expand their international markets by releasing high performance vehicles. He also made an announcement that they will be revealing a brand new Fiesta ST hatchback model with five doors at the LA Auto Show.
Under the hood, the Fiesta ST Concept features an EcoBoost four cylinder 1.6-liter engine coupled with a turbocharger for extra power. This gasoline engine unit is supposed to give an output of 180 horse power and 177 lb-ft of Torque to the wheels. The transmission is supposed to be six-speed manual type. The Ford Focus Concept ST will feature a more powerful 250 horse power producing 2.0 liter Ecoboost engine unit.
Ford has also said that they want to want expand the “ST” tag to other vehicles and not just confine it to the Focus ST series. Since they want to attract all kind of customers they will be improving their other models and giving them the ST brand tag.
The five-door hatchback model is similar to the Fiesta concept shown at the Frankfurt show and offering a lowered suspension, 17 inch alloy wheels and aerodynamically enhanced body kit to name a few improvements.
The Ford officials however refused to comment whether the Fiesta ST concept will ever be released for sale to the general public. Other experts believe that the Fiesta ST will be put into production as it seems like a good model.
