An 11-year-old girl caused police on a chase, right after taking her mom’s SUV and crashing into another automobile in Sunrise, Florida, police stated.

Pembroke Pines police stated the girl’s mother had given her child the key to her SUV to recover a book Monday early morning, but when the mother went outdoors about 10 minutes later, she discovered that her child and SUV were gone.

The mom, thinking her child had been kidnapped, called 911.

Hollywood police spotted the SUV near University Drive and Stirling Road and tried a traffic stop, however the driver chose not to stop.

Authorities pursued the SUV into Sunrise, where it struck into a BMW.

Richard Champagne stated he was on his method to go to household when the SUV raked into his BMW on Weston Roadway near State Road 84.

“I attempted my best to avoid her,” Champagne informed Local 10 News.

Champagne’s head cracked the windshield of his car, and the airbags deployed.

The girl was taken to a hospital as a safety measure.

Police said the girl took her mom’s SUV without approval. She faces charges of aggravated fleeing, fleeing and eluding police and driving without having a license

“I hope that she’s OK, due to the fact that I’m pretty sure that this accident could have been worse,” Champagne included.
