Honda surprised everyone with a new concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Honda CR-Z Mugen RR Concept. The “RR” label signifies a more race ready version of the CR-Z Mugen.
The Mugen CR-Z Concept RR features an exclusive body kit including a front aero bumper, front aero fenders, side spoilers, rear aero bumper, rear wing and specially developed 18-inch wheels.
Honda CR-Z Mugen design concept features a supercharged 1.5-liter engine and an IMA hybrid system good for 200 PS (147 kW / 197 hp) and 181 lb-ft (245 Nm) of torque. Acceleration from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) comes in at roughly 6.6 seconds.
The Mugen CR-Z that was not the only tuned hybrid two-seater at Goodwood. Beside it the Honda CR-Z Mugen RR Concept also showed its face at the Festival of Speed.
The RR Concept goes a step further into the show arena. The exterior aero bits are more focused for track use, but there is no word on the performance figures created by what’s under the hood. Mugen says this vehicle is being used as a study to help define future performance models.
Honda once again manages to surprise us with originality, style and performance. Only a few improvements would be welcome…hopefully when Honda releases full details we’ll see a decent power output too increase.
