Honda extends Mexico plant suspensions to April 30 due to coronavirus

The Mexican unit of Honda Motor stated on Tuesday it would extend a suspension of operations at its plants in the states of Guanajuato and Jalisco until April 30 because of the increase of coronavirus outbreak.

The Honda plants are located in Celaya, Guanajuato and El Salto, Jalisco.

Earlier, the automaker had stated that their plant in El Salto in the western Mexican state of Jalisco, will suspend production operations between April 4 and April 13. While production at its plant located in Celaya, central Mexico, was suspended until April 13.

About 5,847 people in Mexico have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed 449 people in the country.
