It seems to be part of the human condition to want to make something that is already great and make it even better. There is nothing wrong with that, and sometimes what we thought couldn’t be improved actually gets better with a little tinkering. Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea’s largest automaker, unveiled its redesigned premium sports coupe, the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe, at one of Korea’s biggest motorsports competitions. A revised Genesis Coupe was bound to happen, and Hyundai revealed exactly that at a 5000-strong enthusiast gathering at Korea’s Yeongam F1 circuit. Immediately evident is a completely revised front fascia that falls in line with the rest of Hyundai’s lineup. The design change reveals a more aggressive and bolder aesthetic like a really luxury car. The car is expected to make its U.S. debut at the North American International Auto Show.
High-quality materials and metal accents add a sporty and modern touch to the interior, while the standard multi-gauge located on the center fascia is certainly a welcome addition to the performance driver. The attention-catching wide grille completes a bold and sporty front look and enhances cooling performance. Additionally, sleeker head lamps, LED positioning lamps, an LED rear combination lamp and voluminous character lines reinforce Hyundai Genesis Coupe’s high-performance sport car image.
The two engines that power the car have been enhanced. The already powerful 3.8-liter V6 has gained a boosting thanks to a new technology of Hyundai gasoline direct injection, a new turbine and as we said a better cooling system. What we know at the moment is the power of 355 hp and 400 Nm of torque, while performance’s data have not been yet disclosed. The base 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe gets the 2.0 TCI 4-cylinder turbo unit making 275 hp and 372 of torque. Alongside with the six-speed manual gearbox, is almost certain the offering of a new 8-speed automatic transmission for both versions.
