This being its eighth year at the Geneva International Motor Show, IED Turin gave the world a sneak peak of the SCORP-ION. This concept of the car is based on environment friendliness and is the result of design efforts by the students of the Master of Arts in Transportation Design – with work experience ’09/10 and built together with Abarth. IED sought to find the true meaning of the Abarth marquee and to keep its identity separate from the Fiat brand. In order to do so, IED thought it wise to bring into fruition the vision of the young car designer. IED Turin wanted to emote the true colors of Abarth that is famous for its compact, intelligent, record breaking sports cars
Keeping this focus on, IED gave birth to SCORPION. The length measures 4010mm, the width is 1902mm, the height is 1192 mm and the wheel base is of 2350mm. The sedan sports all the fundamental Abarth’s specific characteristics in an unparalled manner with a lethal combo of sportiness and reduced dimensions. But then, the concept oversteps any current scheme of the production range and it is projected towards the future of the marquee. The intention of the SCORPION was to go green with a small two seater identity and that is fully electric.
SCORPION borrows its name from the way the lithium battery is positioned under the load compartment behind the seats. This helps in maximum optimization of space complexity. Its engines is present in the four wheels so that optimization of the interior can be done. The promotion of maximum performance and efficient driving lies in its very low center of gravity. As the sedan is two-seater in nature, huge space becomes available for luggage storage. Hence the luggage section could be generously measured out. With the lines of scorpion embedded in its concept, icon of the Abarth marquee, and its aerodynamics getting a boost this coupe is sure to rage the road.
