IHS Automotive has recently issued a study about the future of autonomous vehicles and according to the report these vehicles will eventually end up dominating the car market, sooner or later.

We have to admit that for people who prefer to have full car control will not be happy with what the report claims as IHS Automotive has stated that by 2035 almost 54 million vehicles will benefit from some or the other form of autonomous technology.

The report further states that the sales of self-driving cars will increase from 230,000 units in 2025 to as much as 11.8 million cars in 2035. The study also says that fully autonomous cars will hit the roads around 2030 and sometime after the year 2050 almost all personal and commercial vehicles will be fully automated.

By 2025, 0.2 percent of all car sales will consist of self-driving vehicles and this percentage is expected to rise to 9.2 by 2035. However this technology will come with a price about which the report states that the added technology will increase the car’s price tag between 7,000 and 10,000 USD by 2025 but will decrease to about 5,000 USD by 2030 and to 3,000 USD around 2035.
