Nation’s biggest car-maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) posted 7.1 per cent increase in total sales at 1,23,034 systems in May.
The company had sold about 1,14,825 units in May 2015. Domestic sales rose 10.6 percent throughout the month to 1,13,162 as compared to 1,02,359 in the exact same month a year ago.
Sales of mini segment cars, including Alto and WagonR, declined by 5.6 per cent to 33,105 units as compared to 35,062 in the year-ago month, MSI stated in a statement.
The automaker talked about sales of the compact section comprising Swift, Estilo, Ritz, Dzire and Baleno rose 11 percent to 46,554 systems in the reported month as compared to 41,926 units in May 2015.
MSI stated sales of its compact sedan Dzire Tour declined by 19.9 percent to 2,555 devices during the month under review compared to 3,190 units in May 2015.
Sales of mid-sized sedan Ciaz rose 3.5 per cent to 5,188 systems in May.
Sales of utility cars consisting of Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, S-Cross and newly released compact SUV Vitara Brezza rose over two-fold to 13,596 units in May from 5,567 in the matching month last year.
Sales of vans– Omni and Eeco– rose 4.8 percent to 12,164 in May as against to 11,602 in the exact same duration of the previous year.
Exports throughout the month decreased by 20.8 percent to 9,872 units compared with 12,466 in May 2015, MSI stated.
