An event that brings thousands car enthusiasts to the small town of Iola, Wisconsin has been canceled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Organizers informed about the cancellation of the 2020 Iola Old Car Show and Swap Meet on Tuesday. Organizers wrote:
The monumental task of producing this world class event is heavily dependent on the thousands of volunteers who aid in this effort. We simply cannot produce the show without the ability to ensure the safety, confidence, and comfort of all involved – and everyone’s safety is our top priority. It is also impossible to predict what measures and mandates may be relaxed or removed by the time of the show.
In place of the car show, organizers are preparing a Rally for Iola on July 11. That would come with a drive through the show grounds and a street cruise.
Furthermore, organizers hope to be able to hold the swap meet and flea market afterwards in the fall.
Exhibitors and campers who have registered will be contacted to talk about their options.
About 1,427,243 people in the US have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed 85,017 people in the country.
