Isdera Imperator 108i revs its AMG V8 6.0-liter engine at Spa

The rare 1980s Isdera Imperator 108i model has been caught in the lens by one of the cameramen in action at Spa-Francorchamps stretching its V8 muscles.

Known to be very famous in the 80s decade, this was one serious car based on the Mercedes-Benz CW311 concept. It is powered by an AMG V8 6.0-liter engine capable of generating 420 hp (313 KW). It enabled the model to accelerate to 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in just 5.7 seconds and could hit a top speed of 189 mph (305 kmph).

In the beginning, the model came fitted with a 5.0-liter V8 Mercedes-Benz engine but later received a 5.6-liter V8 engine also from Mercedes-Benz, along with a 5.6-liter V8 tweaked by AMG. The car in this video is one of the last produced, powered by the AMG V8 6.0-liter engine.

The Isdera Imperator features gullwing doors, a rear periscope, a fiberglass body on a tubular spaceframe and was created by former Mercedes-Benz design engineer Eberhard Schulz. Just 30 units were made between the period 1984 and 1993. Mercedes-Benz refused to produce this car after that but they allowed Schulz to launch it under his own brand, Isdera.

If the DeLorean DMC-12 never existed, this model could have easily been easily a part of star cast of the “Back to the Future” trilogy.
