Jaguar has recently announced that more potent versions of the F-Type Coupe are in development.
The announcement was made by Jaguar’s design director Ian Callum in a recent interview. The F-Type Coupe was introduced at the recently concluded Los Angeles Auto Show where the company presented an R version. It comes equipped with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine generating 550 HP (404 kW) and 501 lb-ft (680 Nm) of torque. The good thing is that there are more powerful versions that are in pipeline as informed by Ian.
As per a recent report, RS and RS-GT versions are on the way and will probably come with an uprated engine wrapped in a lighter package. There have been rumors earlier about an RS version outputting around 700 HP (515 kW) which would enable the range-topping F-Type Coupe to go beyond the 200 mph (322 kmph) mark.
Ian did not reveal the timelines as to when these more focused versions will come out, but chances are that the RS will be launched sometime in 2014 and will be followed several months later by the flagship RS GT that will probably be a limited edition model, just like the XKR-S GT.
