The luxury British automaker, Jaguar, has decided to finally reveal the very first images and details regarding its next generation XF model. According to reports, this new mid-size sedan from the Great Britain will have a drag coefficient value of 0.26, which means that the car is aerodynamic enough.
Judging by the official images of the vehicle, the 2016 model year XF is somehow going to look a bit like the XE, only with a larger size. Also, when compared to the outgoing model, the new XF has a longer wheelbase. According to the luxury British marquee, this will give the car a class leading space in its rear compartment. Jaguar also claims that the car is now lighter by 190 kg compared to its predecessor, thanks to the massive use of aluminum, up to 75%, for the construction of its body.
In terms of engine options, customers will be able to choose from a number of choices. To begin with, there is a 2.0L Ingenium diesel engine. This one is expected to deliver 163 HP and 380 Nm of power and torque. Yet, if that is not interesting enough, customers can also go for a bigger engine that delivers 180 HP and 430 Nm of power and torque. A 3.0L V6 twin-turbo engine is also available for those that can’t be satisfied with the earlier two engine options. This one delivers 300 HP of power and 700 Nm of torque. Lastly, there is a supercharged 3.0L V6 engine which delivers 380 HP of power and 450 Nm of torque.
Jaguar points out that no matter which engine customers choose, they will all be mated to an 8-speed automatic system. Yet, for the 2.0L Ingenium diesel engine, customers can also opt for a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Inside the cabin of the car, customers will find a Solid State Drive (SSD) and a quad-core CPU that powers an onboard InControl Touch Pro infotainment system that features a massive touchscreen display measuring 10.2 inches in diagonal. The car even comes with a 12.3-inch TFT instrument panel that can be reconfigured as well. For audio, the car counts on an 825-Watt digital surround system from Meridian that has 17 speakers in total.
The 2016 Jaguar XF will reportedly make its debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show scheduled for April 1st this year.
