Today Jaguar unveiled its C-X16 concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and we can present you some live photos in addition to the official photos released last week.
This concept marks a new future for Jaguar with respect to technique and design. A hybrid, the C-X16 combines searing performance with beautifully realised styling.
The two-seater is powered by a next-generation supercharged V6 petrol engine producing 380 PS (280kW) and 332 lb ft (450 Nm) of torque. Already boasting a high specific power output of 126 PS-per-litre, the performance of the C-X16 is further supplemented by a Formula 1-inspired hybrid boost system with a steering-wheel mounted button for on-demand acceleration.
In order to keep the ideal 50:50 weight distribution, a motor generator which draws power from a 1.6kWh battery pack mounted behind the seats is integrated into the eight-speed gearbox. The batteries, which allow the motor to provide an additional 95 PS (70 kW) and173 lb ft (235 Nm) are charged through a brake energy regeneration system.
For the interior, the British car maker decided to use the Vermillion Red with black trim, which continues the One plus One concept with dual regions for passenger and driver. The latter gets the best one, with controls and instrumentation suggesting both aeronautical ergonomics as well as classic Jaguar racing cars.
