JD Classics – one of the globally leading classic car racing and restoration companies – has released its own five-speed all-synchromesh gearbox for classic Jaguars.

Styled by a team of JD Classics’ expert technicians and a acclaimed motorsport engineering company, the gearbox is readily available to order now. Developed with synchromesh on all ratios, helical cut gears and a reinforced aluminium cast casing, it has ability to handle up to 400hp and 350 ft/lb of torque.

Made for easy fitment and removal, the new five-speed gearbox is dimensionally the similar size as Jaguar’s all-synchromesh 4.2-litre four-speed gearbox. It operates as a replacement for a range of Jaguar models, consisting of those without synchromesh, such as the C-Type, E-Type 3.8 S1 and XK models.

Currently installed in customer-owned XKs and MKIIs, the JD Classics five-speed gearbox provides closer gear ratios and smoother changes, more versatility on the road as well as more performance on the track.

JD Classics Race Shop Team Principal, Steve Riedling, stated: “JD Classics earned its reputation in classic Jaguars, and we very successfully campaign and support several Jaguar models in historic rallies and classic motorsport. With all the lessons we have took, and the customer response we have received, we have created the new gearbox to be reliable, easy to use and with the performance advantages of a modern gearbox.”

The five-speed synchromesh gearbox is already available to order now in kit form, or with JD Classics-fitment added.
