News out is that Seoul based South Korean automaker Kia has decided to decrease the price of its Soul EV by $2000, and the company also confirmed that they will be manufacturing an additional new base version named Ev-e. However, the company has restricted Ev-e’s market and said would only be available in California. Consumers need not to worry since the electrical Soul will continue in Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii with two models, the Soul EV and the EV plus. The top-of-the-line EV Plus comes to about $36,775 in which it features leather, front and rear parking sensors, fog lights, power-folding mirrors, “aero” wipers, an auto-dimming inside mirror, luggage net, a cargo-area power outlet, heated rear seats (all models have heated front seats and steering wheel), cooled front seats, and additional interior trim.
For the next-gen 2016 EV Plus the company will be offering goodies such as a panoramic sunroof, LED interior lighting, and lights in the door speakers, all for an additional $11,000 option package. On the other hand, when we compared with the $34,775 Soul EV, the EV-e sacrifices its battery-heating system, heat-pump HVAC, navigation system, backup camera, UVO EV services (Kia’s EV-specific connectivity features), cargo screen, and turn-signal side mirrors. Lastly, all Soul EV models have an EPA-rating of a 93-mile range from their 27-kWh lithium-ion battery pack.A standard A 480-volt DC fast charger is provided and the Soul can also be plugged into a 240V or 120V outlet.
