The South Korean automaker, KIA, has taken the liberty of bringing its latest creation, the Novo fastback, to the year’s Seoul Motor Show event in Seoul, Korea. According to the company, this car previews the design language that the company will be using in the years to come. It turns out the car is named after the Latin term ‘novatus’ which essentially means ‘refreshed’ or ‘renewed’. For its chassis, the car uses one similar to that of the South Korean automaker’s Forte/Cerato model, mated to a fastback roofline, a short overhang on the front end and a long overhang on the rear end. All these give the car quite an aggressive look.
Of course, as with all modern day KIA vehicle lineups, this one, too, sports a tiger nose front grille. Only, on the Novo fastback, the grille looks wider and there are slim laser headlamps flanking it. Customers keen on buying this particular vehicle model from KIA may also notice massive side skirts, prominently designed wheel arches and suicide doors featuring pop-up handles. On the rear fascia, the car sports slimly designed interconnected taillights and dual exhaust pipes with chrome accent, integrated to the rear bumper that has a unique design.
Stepping into the cabin, the car looks minimalist with only very few knobs and buttons. One exciting element, however, is the built-in 3D hologram display. This display is accompanied by what the company calls a ‘blind control’ touchpad that can be found near the steering wheel. Using this touchpad, driver of the car will be able to control just about all functions available on the car. There is even a fingerprint scanner on the touchpad. This allows the car to automatically activate the driver’s preferences when it has successfully recognized the fingerprint that belongs to the driver.
Under the hood, the car packs a turbocharged 1.6L 4-cylinder engine that sends power to the front wheels with the help of a 7-speed DCT system. A set of 20-inch alloy wheels are to be expected as well.
