If you remember correctly, the South Korean automaker KIA provided a glimpse at its next generation Optima last week. It provided us with a teaser of the model. Now, the company has taken the liberty of officially unveiling the very first image of its upcoming mid-size sedan model.
Taking a look at the first official image of the car, it can be seen that the upcoming Optima model will be very similar to the SPORTSPACE concept that the company previewed some time ago. The car also maintains the tiger nose front grille design that has now become the signature of KIA vehicle lineups. Yet, the grille on the new Optima looks somehow flashier than the one on the company’s K900. In addition to the flashy tiger nose front grille, the car also features interestingly looking front bumper gills with chrome surrounding for a premium impression. Meanwhile, the stylish large alloy wheels and the sculpted engine hood give the car an upscale visual.
According to KIA, those keen on buying its 4th generation Optima model will be able to choose from a host of engine options. Though the company has yet to mention specifically what kind of engine options will be available, it is possible that the US-spec variant of the model will pack a turbocharged 1.6L engine, to begin with. In addition to that, a naturally aspirated 2.4L and a 2.0L turbo engine may be available as well. Yet, as for the consumers from Europe, they may benefit from a new 1.7L CRDi engine.
KIA also says those looking to buy its next generation Optima sedan will enjoy a top class premium features, a spacious interior and also a wide array of modern technologies that the predecessor could not offer.
The 2016 KIA Optima will most likely make its debut at the New York Auto Show that will kick off on April 1, 2015.
