Seoul, South Korea, is home to the automaker, Hyundai. With that being said, it is actually more than appropriate for the company to present its new vehicles to the customers at its home country first. That is just what happens here. The company has taken the veil off its Sonata Hybrid for the 2015 model year in Seoul, South Korea.
With its veil completely unwrapped in its home country, the residents of Seoul are now fully aware of what kind of engine, performance and features that they can get from this new hybrid Korean sedan. Well, the car packs a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine under its hood, to begin with. As a hybrid, it is normal for the car to have an electric motor installed as well alongside the conventional engine. Whereas the conventional engine promises to deliver 156 hp of power output and 189 Nm of torque, the electric motor offers 52 hp and 205 Nm of additional power output and torque, respectively. The engine consumes fuel quite efficiently as well, more efficient than its predecessor. The current fuel consumption customers can expect is 5.5 L / 100 km.
The car engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission which results in a lighter torsion damper. In addition to that, a new engine clutch and an electric oil pump are also equipped onto the car. However, this time around, a torque converter can no longer be seen. The lithium-ion battery has also received an increase of 13.3% in terms of capacity. It now has a capacity of 1.62 kWh. The battery can be found in the trunk that is now capable of accommodating 380 liters of cargoes.
For the sake of aerodynamics, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid also comes with a full underbody cover, a low-drag rear diffuser and also 16- or 17-inch streamlined alloy wheels.
