The 2015 New York Auto Show is just around the corner. Yet, ahead of the event, the automaker Lexus has officially released a couple of images that tease the next generation RX model. The car will reportedly be a completely new model and it is supposedly going to make its world premiere when this year’s New York Auto Show event officially opens its doors to the public. Well, it seems that April 1, 2015, will be an exciting calendar date to look forward to.
Judging by the official teaser images from Lexus, the car will feature a visual styling that is significantly different from that of the current generation model. The 2016 model year RX from Lexus is going to sport a roofline lower than that of the predecessor, plastic body cladding around the pronounced wheel arches and sleeker door handles. All in all, it seems that the visual design of the upcoming RX model is heavily inspired by the company’s smaller model, the Lexus NX.
On the next generation Lexus RX, buyers of the vehicle will also benefit from newly designed taillights. This time around, the taillights are a whole lot sleeker than those of the outgoing model. In addition, if you pay close attention to the teaser images, you may even be able to notice as well that the side mirrors of the vehicle are now sitting on a higher position and that the side skirts are also bigger than before.
Unfortunately, when it comes to performance, Lexus is keeping its lips tightly sealed. Nonetheless, rumor has it, buyers of the 2016 Lexus RX model will be eligible for a 3.5L V6 engine. Mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the engine should deliver 270 bhp of power. The car will reportedly use the chassis of the Toyota Camry as well. After all, Lexus does belong to the Japanese automaker, Toyota.
