Mercedes has fully disclosed the type of things to come. After their success with the CLS four-door coupe, which was launched in 2003, this time they have come up with a new model also a four door called the CLA.
Just below the C-Class sedan, the brand new CLA is a four-door car, but one that offers style and dynamism. Its roofline is accompanied by very coupe-like frameless doors.
The auto major has also announced that prices in Europe will start at €28,977 for the CLA 180, producing 122 PS and 200 Nm of torque including Vat.
The Blue Efficiency version of the same CLA 180 with 1.6-liter engine keeps the power intact but reduces the fuel consumption to 5 l/100km and lowers CO2 emission to 118 g/km.
it takes 9.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h. This particular model costs the same €28,977 as the base CLA 180.
Then comes the CLA 200, which has the same 156 PS version of the turbo 1.6-liter as the C180 consists and costs €31,862. This is slightly faster, taking 8.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h with a maximunm speed of around 230 km/h.
The most potent petrol engine is the CLA 250’s 2-liter, which makes 211 PS and 350 Nm of torque. It comes exclusively with a 7G-DCT gearbox and pushes the car to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km/h. The CLA 250 is priced in Germany at a €38,675 including tax.
Eventually there’s is only one diesel in the range, the CLA 220 CDI, producing 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque from a 2.1-liter engine. It’s the greenest (109 g/km of CO2) and the most efficient (4.2 l/100km combined) of the lot, but costs €37,991.
Two chassis and suspension set-ups are available: the comfort suspension and the optional sports suspension that lowers the car by 0 mm (front) and 15 mm (rear). The CLA will also be available with a new 4MATIC all-wheel drive system that has been developed specifically for this car.
