The Hungarian subsidiary of German automobile producer Daimler saw output at its Kecskemét-based plant rise by 20% last year, compared with the preceding year, to more than 180,000 automobiles, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary chief Christian Wolff stated.

Mercedes-Benz is preparing to invest more than EUR580 million in technological upgrades and capacity expansions in the factory by 2018, Wolff added, as per Hungarian news agency MTI.

Over EUR65 million in profit produced by the unit last year will be reinvested in the plant, CFO Ekkehard Philipp stated.

The vehicle sector is among the best-performing markets in Hungary, and specialists consider it to be the motorist of the Hungarian economy.
