Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG

by Sweta

Even before the new M-Class on 19.11.2011 stands at the dealership, Mercedes makes the house from its own tuner AMG ML 63 AMG tougher version you want more. That this must be stronger than the Munich competition, and that goes without saying that no one goes into the area, probably.

555 hp, it was to beat, because so much does the BMW X5 M. The Swabians have reached your goal, even if only with the optional performance package for whopping € 7000. Then, namely the 5.5 liter V8 bi-turbo makes 557 hp, thanks to increased boost pressure.

Simultaneously obtains the pressure rise by 0.3 to 1.3 bar, an increase in torque. Instead of 700 Newton meters, as provided by the 525-hp base, then 760 Newton meters at all four wheels are sent, 40 percent of them go forward to the rest of the rear axle.

One-tenth faster:

On driving performance has little effect: the 108 885 € expensive ML 63 AMG creates the standard sprint in 4.8 seconds, the investment in the Performance Package brings – barely measurable – tenths advantage. The top speed for both models is limited electronically to 250 km / hr.

Also on both sides is identical to the standard consumption of 11.8 liters. Would like to achieve in practice, but hardly a driver. As standard, the direct-injection engine with a stop-start system is fitted, but which will be activated explicitly. After annealing, the ML moves in sport mode and the engine burns fuel constantly.

Stop-start only on demand:

Only when the selection lever of the seven-speed automatic transmission is set to C (which stands for Controlled Efficiency), the engine will stop at traffic lights. At the same time gearing and accelerator response are trimmed to thrift.

Unlike his well-terrain, civilian brothers, the ML 63 AMG will probably never be encountered in rough terrain. For that he should feel thanks to sports suspension with air suspension, automatic leveling, and reinforced anti-roll Hinterachs stabilisator on the track more like home.

Sporty looks:

It can be seen on the M-to large air intakes, a black-painted radiator grille and a special rear apron with two dual tailpipes. The Performance Package brings additional red brake callipers and an engine cover made of carbon. Spread inside an AMG steering wheel, leather seats and plenty of special aluminum-and piano-lacquer decor a sporty flair.
