One of the most attractive new cars to come on to the automotive scene in recent times, the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG has been voted Germany’s most attractive new car, as a survey conducted by German Car Magazine, Auto Bild revealed.
The survey covered over a hundred thousand readers who took part in the magazine vote and the SLS AMG is the unanimous choice for the majority of them as the real head turner. And its not hard to know why for a car that borrows design cues from the most iconic model to ever emerge from the Mercedes stable – the SL300 Gullwing.
And the best thing about the SLS AMG is that its beauty is skin deep, deep right up to its core. For nestled underneath the vast hood is a special hand built 6.2-litre V8 engine that is good enough for a thoroughly impressive 420 kW and 650 Nm of torque that transforms the automotive equivalent of a beauty queen into a speed monsters that can hurtle down the road at a top speed of 317 km/h. Its acceleration figures too are mind boggling, as 3.8 seconds is all that the SLS AMG will need to cross the 100km/h from standing still.
In becoming Germany’s most attractive new car, the SLS AMG beat out more than 100 new cars spread out in 5 separate categories. And SLS AMG is not the only car that brought cheer to Mercedes-Benz as the luxury car maker also came in at the number two spot with its new E-Class Cabriolet. That’s not all for with the F 800 Style Concept, Mercedes-Benz went on to occupy the 1st place in the Studies and Concept Car category. All this is proof enough that the Mercedes-Benz is a force to contend with in the field of automotive style and design.
“Our vehicles are self-assured examples of refined sportiness. The SLS AMG, the E-Class Cabriolet and the F 800 Style exhibit the unmistakable style of Mercedes-Benz design, and set design trends for the future,” said Prof. Gorden Wagener, the Chief Designer with Mercedes-Benz.
Meanwhile, the $464,000 priced SLS AMG is all set to burn rubber on the Australian terrain from August onwards.
